Polyurea

WHAT IS POLYUREA

Durable and insulating, perfect for surface waterproofing and coating

Polyurea is a type of liquid and very elastic membrane, ideal for waterproofing new or existing surfaces. Specifically, it is a special resin that allows us to solve the most common problems related to water infiltration, since it is able to form a homogeneous and impermeable coating  over the entire treated surface, guaranteeing its tightness.

Polyurea can be applied by spraying, cold, casting, and blowing by sprayers, coating machines, roller machines (cold or manual polyureas), at both high and low pressure.

Why choose polyurea?

Polyurea is the most widely used product for waterproofing and protective coatings. Here are its specific features:

This material is highly waterproof, effectively protecting surfaces from infiltration and damage caused by moisture and water. It does not have seams or joints where water could potentially penetrate.

Polyurea is highly versatile and can be formulated for a wide range of applications, including protective coatings, sealants, waterproof coatings, and decorative applications. It can be applied to many different materials, such as concrete, metals, wood, PVC, old bitumen membranes, and ceramics. Polyurea adapts to irregular and complex surfaces, various shapes, and can also be applied vertically. Moreover, the formulation can be customized based on the specific requirements of the construction project.

Polyurea is renowned for its exceptional resistance to tension, abrasion, and impact, ensuring durability and protection against mechanical and environmental stresses. Its high mechanical and chemical resistance makes it suitable for areas with heavy foot traffic or vehicular loads, as it resists abrasion and can contain aggressive liquids like acids, hydrocarbons, battery fluids, and salt.

With an extremely short curing time, polyurea enables rapid applications without visible seams or joints, minimizing downtime. Both the application and drying times are very fast, ensuring that large areas can be covered in a short period.

Polyurea can stretch up to 600% of its length, which prevents cracking on its surface. It accommodates structural movements without compromising the waterproof integrity of the application.

Polyurea maintains its properties across a wide temperature range, making it suitable for extreme environments. It withstands harsh weather conditions such as rain, hail, and temperatures from -40°C to +180°C, as well as constant exposure to UV rays from the sun.

Polyurea can be formulated to be fire-resistant and to protect against other safety threats, helping to safeguard surfaces and provide a safer environment. Numerous certifications attest to its use as a fireproof material, for food and potable water containment, and as an anti-static element. It is also root-resistant, antifungal, and anti-moss.

Polyurea does not add significant weight to structures, preserving building safety. It is relatively lightweight compared to other materials with similar properties, making it ideal for applications where weight must be minimized.

Polyurea is a polymer that, when used in the construction industry, can help achieve sustainable development goals. The product is free from volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and does not release particles into the environment, ensuring the protection of both operators and end users.
